The Conor Benn Case: Matchroom's Comment

In comments to Boxing Social, Matchroom Boxing promoter Frank Smith discussed the recent news that the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) and the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) won an appeal regarding Benn's suspension.

"The truth is, it's not something we can speak on. It's a confidential legal matter, so none of the involved parties have made comments. We are not one of the parties in this case, obviously, those are UKAD, BBBofC, and Conor, and the case is still under consideration. As soon as it's possible to say more, we will.

I can't go into details. I know everyone wants answers, and it would be much easier if we could speak openly, but the case is still ongoing. As soon as we are able to talk about it, we will.

I don't know, I didn't think we'd be here 18 months later. It's been a long, long period of his life and career taken up by this process, but hopefully, we can get him back in the British ring as soon as possible," said Smith.

Since April 2022, Conor Benn has not fought in Great Britain. In September last year, Conor fought against Rodolfo Orozco (33-4-3, 25 KOs), and in February 2024 against Peter Dobson (16-1, 9 KOs), winning by unanimous decision in both matches, which took place in the USA.
