Hearn: "Smith's Performance Made Azim Wet Himself"

In an interview with iFL TV, Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, commented on Adam Azim's (11-0, 8 KOs) decision to relinquish the EBU super lightweight title (up to 63.5 kg) in order to fight Harlem Eubank (19-0, 8 KOs) instead of the organizationally mandated fight against Dalton Smith (16-0, 12 KOs).

"To be honest, we've been out of the fight for a long time. Ben Shalom said about two months ago that they won't fight Dalton Smith. It was frustrating because we knew they never intended to fight him.

Apparently, Dalton's performance against Zepeda made them wet themselves even more. For us, it was a disappointment," said Hearn.

On March 23rd, in a fight for the WBC Silver super lightweight title (up to 63.5 kg), British boxer Dalton Smith defeated American Jose Zepeda. The confrontation ended prematurely in the fifth round. Smith delivered a body shot to Zepeda, who failed to rise before the referee's count ended – KO in round 5.

It was previously revealed that Azim decided to forgo the fight with Smith, mandated by the organization, and instead chose to meet Harlem Eubank.
