Azim Renounces EBU Title

Matchroom Boxing has been informed by the European Boxing Union (EBU) that British boxer Adam Azim (11-0, 8 KOs) has renounced his EBU title in the super lightweight division (up to 63.5 kg).

Azim has decided to forgo a fight with Dalton Smith (16-0, 12 KOs), which was organized by the association, and instead, has opted to face Harlem Eubank (19-0, 8 KOs).

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that Azim has dodged the fight. "You can sugarcoat it however you like, but Adam Azim has dodged Dalton Smith," said Hearn.

It was previously reported that Adam Azim would make his second defense of the EBU championship belt, and the contract for the fight against Harlem Eubank was officially signed.

Azim became champion in March 2023. In February 2024, he made his first defense, knocking out Elok Poulsen. Harlem Eubank is the cousin of Chris Eubank Jr. In November 2023, he secured an early victory over Timo Schwarzkopf and has not boxed since then.
