WBC super lightweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) commented on the news of Ryan Garcia's (25-1, 20 KOs) positive doping test.
"We learned about this situation not so long ago, and we're very sorry that Ryan deceived everyone and showed disrespect to both fans and boxing by fighting dirty and failing doping tests twice.
I have always been a supporter of clean fights, and this case is an example. Ryan should apologize to the fans, and judging by his recent tweet, he still thinks it's a joke.
We put our lives on the line to entertain people and make a living. We don't play boxing. This casts the fight in a completely different light. People die in this sport. This is no joke," said Haney.
On April 21st, Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney. Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion since Ryan did not make the weight limit and was not eligible for the title.
