The reigning WBA cruiserweight champion (up to 90.7 kg), Mexican boxer Gilberto Ramirez, shared his desire to face WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
“Absolutely. This is a fight I’d love to have. Usyk is in the heavyweight division now, but I think he might come back down to cruiserweight. If not, I’m ready to move up to meet him.
I like his style. He was in a lighter weight class before but eventually became a heavyweight. I’m trying to follow a similar path,” Ramirez said.
Ramirez's next fight is a unification bout against WBO champion Chris Billam-Smith from the UK. The fight is set for November 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
