WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) has admitted that his retirement plans have changed following his draw against fellow American Lamont Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs).
Previously, the 30-year-old had stated that he intended to hang up the gloves after 2025. However, after his latest fight, Davis has had a change of heart—now planning to fight at least four more times.
“Yeah, this definitely changed my plans. No doubt about it. I think I’ve got four more fights ahead of me,” Davis said.
For reference, on March 1, Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach fought to a D-MD 12—a majority draw after twelve rounds. The fight was marred by controversy in the ninth round when Davis took a knee, but the referee failed to rule it a knockdown. The moment sparked heated debates among fans and the boxing community.
While Davis hasn't ruled out a rematch with Roach, he has made it clear—it won’t be his next fight.
