Former world champion and current ESPN analyst Timothy Bradley believes that WBA junior middleweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) should forget about a potential fight with former undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs).
Bradley insists that Crawford should consider a bout against IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs).
"I understand that a fight with Canelo is a dream match for Crawford. However, there's a guy around that weight class who resembles Canelo and Benavidez. Jaron Ennis had a choice, and 'Boots' chose Crawford. He's been waiting for this fight longer than anyone else. So if I were in Terence's shoes, I would say, 'Okay, the young blood wants this—no problem, he'll get it.'
If Crawford accepts this challenge, he could get 90 percent against 10. Jaron is willing to give him everything. Ennis sold out a 14,000-seat arena in his last fight in Philadelphia. Omaha isn't that far. They could hold the fight at Madison Square Garden in New York. I'm sure those guys could sell out that arena.
Everyone would want to see this fight because Ennis is considered the next great fighter. When Terence leaves, 'Boots' is supposed to be the guy to replace him. Jaron knows that Crawford will soon leave the sport, and he believes he can beat him," Bradley said.
In July, Jaron Ennis won by TKO against David Avanesyan (30-5-1, 18 KOs), and in early August, Terence Crawford won by unanimous decision against Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs).
Recently, Canelo stated that he is open to considering any offer, but only after his fight against Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs), scheduled for September 14 in Las Vegas, USA.
