Mexican WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saúl Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) has shared that he is open to considering an offer from Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority head, Turki Alalshikh, regarding a potential fight – but only after his match against Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs).
"I'm in. I can take a fight that benefits me, and if the money is right, then everything is good.
I like comfort; I like peace of mind. Turki likes to reach out to me right before my fights, and I don’t like working in that mode.
I told him, 'Look, I don’t want to talk about other fights. After the Berlanga fight, we can sit down and discuss everything, so it makes sense.'
But if not, I’m not convincing anyone. I’m in a good position. I’m not asking for a fight to be arranged for me. I don’t need anything.
I’m taking care of my business. I’m fine. So, if you want it, great. We can talk after the fight," said Canelo.
Álvarez will face Edgar Berlanga on September 14 in Las Vegas, USA.
