Eddie Hearn, promoter of former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has shared his thoughts on a potential match-up against WBC titleholder Tyson Fury. According to the representative of the British boxer, the immediate plan for his client involves an interim fight in August, followed by a showdown with Deontay Wilder towards the end of the year. However, if the bout with the former American champion falls through, Joshua may revise his strategy and set his sights on the "Gypsy King."
"There’s a lot to consider, but really I think that the main thing is the Wilder fight. If the Wilder fight fell through, AJ would scrap his August fight for Tyson Fury, no doubt," Hearn remarked.
The promoter also noted that, objectively assessing the situation, they require an interim fight in August so that Joshua and his trainer, Derrick James, can gear up for the big clash with Fury. He underscored that this is one of the most highly anticipated fights in boxing, and they are in favor of the plan.
The cancellation of the fight in Saudi Arabia might pave the way for Joshua to face Tyson Fury. Hearn declared that they would at least contemplate this possibility and would be willing to collaborate with Fury.
"If the Saudi fight didn’t materialize and the Deontay Wilder fight didn’t materialize, absolutely, AJ has no problem going into a Tyson Fury fight, or at least exploring it," Hearn stated.
Hence, the upcoming boxing matches of Anthony Joshua are the subject of intense interest among boxing enthusiasts. As decisions regarding opponents and venues approach finalization, the promoters are busy drafting future plans.
