Roberto Duran Successfully Undergoes Heart Surgery

The family of Panamanian champion across four weight divisions, Roberto Duran, shared on Instagram that the surgery to install a pacemaker to assist his heart was a success.

"We are pleased to report that, thanks to God, our champion's surgery went well.

Thank you to all the family, friends, and fans for your prayers. A special thanks to the medical team for their hard work.

We will keep you updated," the Duran family wrote.

On March 16th, the family announced that 72-year-old Roberto was hospitalized receiving medical care for heart issues.

Roberto was a world champion in lightweight (WBA, WBC), welterweight (WBC), light middleweight (WBA), and middleweight (WBC) classes, and is considered one of the best lightweights in boxing history. Duran's career record stands at 103 wins, 16 losses, and 70 KOs.
