The trainer of IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), Don Charles, shared his thoughts on his fighter’s recent victory over Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
"I’ve always had a mission. From the day I arrived in England in October 1974, coinciding with the 'Rumble in the Jungle' fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. I was 14 years old, and that fight led me to boxing.
And now, as we approach the 50th anniversary of that fight, I’m training a world heavyweight champion. I love you, Daniel, thank you. Thank you to your father for bringing you into my life. If I go tomorrow, my heart will be at peace. You’ve helped me find my destiny. Thank you," said Charles.
To recap, on September 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, UK, Daniel Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua, with knockdowns in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds. After the final knockdown, Joshua was unable to rise before the count. KO 5.
