As reported by insider Michael Benson, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) is likely to mandate the victor of the Philip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) versus Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) showdown to face Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) for the vacant IBF heavyweight world title (over 90.7 kg).
This scenario is being considered in the event of a rematch between Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), which could lead to the IBF belt becoming vacant.
It was previously revealed that Hrgovic and Dubois are finalizing an agreement for a bout scheduled to take place on June 1st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout will be part of the undercard for the showdown for the undisputed light heavyweight world championship (up to 79.37 kg) between WBO, WBC, and IBF titleholder Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) and WBA and IBO champion Dmitry Bivol (22-0, 11 KOs).
Philip Hrgovic last entered the ring in December against Mark De Mori (41-3-2, 36 KOs), securing victory via technical knockout. Also featured on the same card was Daniel Dubois, who likewise emerged victorious by technical knockout in a bout against American Jarrell Miller (26-1-1, 22 KOs).
