UFC president Dana White, who recently took over as head of the new TKO boxing promotion, addressed the possibility of MMA fighters transitioning to boxing—and vice versa.
— Do you see any of your UFC fighters wanting to step into a boxing ring now that these opportunities exist? And are you considering events where both an octagon and a boxing ring would be side by side, merging the two sports?
— No, no, no. I’m sure there are guys who want to box, but I absolutely don’t want to see that. Let boxers stay in boxing, and MMA fighters stay in MMA.
Previously, UFC champion Alex Pereira reacted with excitement to the news of White’s involvement in boxing. He even hinted at a possible fight with Oleksandr Usyk, speculating that it could take place in September.
