Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn believes that WBA super welterweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) might not return to the ring unless his opponent is WBC, WBA, WBO super middleweight champion Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs).
"I don't think Crawford will step into the ring again if it's not against Canelo. I don't think he'll fight Vergil Ortiz, he won't give Madrimov a rematch, and he definitely doesn't want to fight Ennis. So who else is there for him to fight? I don't think he wants to face Fundora either.
Crawford has earned a lot of money, so he no longer wants to participate in fights that aren't worth a fortune or don't personally interest him. In his mind, it's all about a fight with Canelo," said Hearn.
Canelo's next fight is set for September 14th against Edgar Berlanga. Despite WBO mandating Fundora to defend his title against Crawford, Canelo has stated that a fight with Terence could happen sooner than the bout organized by the Organization.
