Canelo Could Face Crawford Before Fundora

WBA, WBO, and WBC Super Middleweight Champion Saul "Canelo" Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) has responded to the WBO's decision to mandate Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) to defend his junior middleweight title (up to 69.85 kg) against Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).

"I don't think the fight won't happen. I'm not saying the bout can't take place. This appointment doesn't make sense," Canelo stated.

Canelo does not rule out the possibility of facing Terence Crawford in his next bout. However, he first needs to meet Edgar Berlanga in September. After that, Álvarez will be ready to discuss a fight with Crawford.

Crawford and Fundora have 30 days to reach an agreement. If they fail, a purse bid will be ordered.
