Terence Crawford Shares Strategy for Potential Fight Against Canelo

WBA junior middleweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) discussed how he plans to compete against WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) if their fight materializes.

"Here’s the thing about great boxers—they push themselves against all odds. People say, ‘You’re too small,’ ‘You don’t stand a chance,’ ‘You don’t belong in the ring with such opponents.’ That’s when great boxers show their best fight.

I’ll feel great in the super middleweight division. I won’t have to worry about weight. I know I’ll feel excellent. There are many aspects I need to work on, but that’s part of boxing—achieving new goals. We’ll be well-prepared when the time comes.

We’ll see during the fight what my advantage is. I’m the kind of fighter who likes to study my opponent and adapt to their actions. I think that’s my biggest strength—being able to understand every opponent I’ve faced. I plan to do the same in a fight with Canelo when it happens.

I’m truly grateful for what Turki [Alalsheikh] has done for boxing, organizing the biggest fights that attract fans. He’s a huge fan himself and puts so much effort into making the fights everyone wants to see happen, financing them. I’m very happy with how things are progressing and admire where it’s all heading," Crawford said.

Previously, Bernie Davis, Crawford’s trainer, revealed the expected date for the fight between Crawford and Canelo.
