Crawford’s Trainer Reveals Date for Canelo Fight

Bernie Davis, trainer of WBA junior middleweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), has announced that the highly anticipated fight between Crawford and WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) is set for September 13.

"We take on serious challenges and win. Now we’re being given Canelo Alvarez, a powerful puncher with an equally high boxing IQ, a legend. These are the kinds of challenges Crawford has been seeking, and it makes sense. We earned this opportunity to be on the big stage, in a mega-fight, in a super showdown that can be called a David versus Goliath battle.

Again, we face many disadvantages in this fight: weight, power. But we also have many advantages—reach and skill set. We’ll conquer this mountain. That’s how it’s going to be, my friend. September 13, mark your calendars. Crawford versus Canelo.

As I’ve said before, it’s Crawford versus Canelo. Yes, it’s confirmed. Crawford versus Canelo, not the other way around.

The best P4P fighter in the world. Soon to become the super middleweight world champion," Davis stated.

In September, Canelo defended his titles with a unanimous decision victory over Edgar Berlanga. In August, Terence Crawford moved up in weight and defeated Israil Madrimov via unanimous decision, claiming the WBA title.
