According to ESPN, the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) are finalizing an agreement for a bout scheduled for May 4 in Las Vegas.
The event will be broadcast via PPV on Prime Video and DAZN.
Sources have disclosed that this is a one-fight agreement for Alvarez with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) after the parties went their separate ways last week. According to the contract signed in June last year, there were two fights left out of the three agreed upon. Alvarez may continue his partnership with PBC from September.
Zanfer Promotions COO Guillermo Brito previously stated that everything for the upcoming fight has been agreed upon, with only signatures missing.
Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez last entered the ring in September of the previous year against Jermell Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs) and won by unanimous decision. Jaime Munguia dealt with John Ryder (32-7, 18 KOs) by technical knockout in January 2024.
