Promoter: "Canelo vs. Munguia Fight Agreed Upon 95%"

The operational director of Zanfer Promotions, Guillermo Brito, informed Izquierdazo that the upcoming fight between the undisputed super middleweight champion (76,2 kg) Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) is almost finalized, lacking only the signatures.

According to him, the Canelo vs. Munguia fight will be broadcast simultaneously on two platforms – DAZN and Amazon Prime, with the agreement "95 percent complete."

"I know there will be two platforms broadcasting the fight. This will greatly help sell the show. You expect a lot of sales, having the fight available in two alternative options.

As of yesterday, we are 95 percent done with the fight. There are last details left, 2-3 points. Until the agreement is signed, you can't talk about anything officially, so we wait, and the only thing missing is the signatures. Once this issue is resolved, it will be announced that the fight date is May 4th for Canelo vs. Munguia. The major issues, such as distribution of purses, ticket revenue, choice of gloves – all are already agreed upon. It remains to review the contract by both parties and put the signatures. Everything is ready; you just need to stamp the signatures," said Brito.

The last time Saúl Álvarez entered the ring was in September last year against Jermell Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs), winning by unanimous decision. Jaime Munguia handled John Ryder (32-7, 18 KOs) by technical knockout in January 2024.
