Undisputed super middleweight champion Saúl Álvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) shared his thoughts after defeating William Scull (23-1, 9 KOs) of Cuba.
“He just came to survive, to go all 12 rounds. It was a boring fight.
He wasn’t trying to win — only to survive.
I hate fighters like that… But it’s fine, I won and became undisputed champion for the second time,” said Canelo.
As a reminder, on the night of May 4, Canelo defeated Scull by unanimous decision, becoming a two-time undisputed world champion. According to CompuBox, the bout was the least action-packed 12-rounder in their recorded history.
Immediately after the fight, Turki Alalshikh announced that Canelo Álvarez will face Terence Crawford on September 12 in Las Vegas.
