WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (62–2–2, 39 KOs) and WBA junior middleweight champion (up to 69.85 kg) Terence Crawford (41–0, 31 KOs) have reached an agreement for a showdown, according to insider Julius Julianis.
Julianis reports that the fight could take place next fall in the United States.
“Sources close to the agreement say that a deal has already been reached for a fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford in September of this year in Las Vegas,” Julianis wrote.
In an interview with RTFight, Canelo mentioned that he plans to fight twice in 2025: in May and September.
Alvarez last fought in September, securing a unanimous decision victory over Edgar Berlanga. The most likely next opponent for the Mexican star was considered to be William Scull, the IBF champion at super middleweight.
In August, Terence Crawford moved up in weight and defeated Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision, capturing the WBA title.
