The undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) has officially confirmed that he will have his 65th professional boxing match on May 4th. In comments made to TV Azteca, he did not name his opponent but stated it would not be a Mexican, thus ruling out previous potential matchups against Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) and David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs). He also announced that the fight would take place in Las Vegas, USA.
The Ring magazine reported that Canelo is presumably set to face Jermall Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs), who holds the WBC middleweight title.
