Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.: The Most Anticipated Fight Nears an Official Announcement

In an exclusive comment to Ready to Fight, welterweight contender Conor Benn (23–0, 14 KOs) and IBO middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. shed light on their potential matchup.

Conor Benn:Will we see the fight against Eubank next? Let’s see. Let’s see what happens tonight.

I said ‘yes’ to the WBC, I said ‘yes’ to Eubank. So the truth is, anyone from welterweight to middleweight can get the fight. No problem. I’m better than all of them.”

Chris Eubank Jr.:From what I know, the fight with Benn is close. From what I know, we’re nearly there. So in a week or two, I expect an announcement—if everything goes according to plan.

We need this fight. I can’t think of many matchups that are as awaited and exciting as this one. It has to happen, and it will happen.

Eubank Jr. and Benn initially planned to face off in October 2022, but the bout was canceled due to Benn’s positive doping test. Since then, Benn has fought in the USA, where the suspension did not apply. In November, the charges against him were dropped. Eubank Jr. traded technical knockouts with Liam Smith in 2023 before returning in October to stop Kamil Szeremeta by 7th-round TKO.

On January 11 in London, UK, The Ring magazine held its annual awards ceremony. You can check out the full list of winners in all categories via the provided link.
