In a clear statement on the Tha Boxing Vice podcast, WBC "interim" super middleweight champion David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) addressed whether he would consider leaving Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and Al Haymon for another promoter to secure a fight against the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs).
"Hell no. I've been making good money. Al Haymon has taken care of me... This has nothing to do with a promotion, Canelo doesn't want the fight, it's crazy how some fans don't see this. Every time Canelo says 'no,' all his fans find him a million f****** excuses," Benavidez expressed.
Benavidez last entered the ring in November, defeating Demetrius Andrade (32-1, 19 KOs) after Andrade's corner threw in the towel.
In September, Canelo secured a unanimous decision victory over Jermell Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs).
Recent reports suggest the undisputed champion is nearing a deal to fight Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs).
