WBC champion in the second middleweight division, David Benavides (28-0, 24 KOs), successfully defended his title for the second time. This time, he defeated two-division former world champion Demetrius Andrade (32-1, 19 KOs).
Andrade suffered a knockdown at the end of the fourth round, and after the sixth, Andrade's corner refused to continue the fight. The official result is RTD 6. Benavides became the interim WBC champion in July 2022, following a stoppage victory over David Lemieux.
His first defense occurred in March, a decision win over Caleb Plant. The full title is held by Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs).
For Andrade, this was his second bout in the second middleweight division, winning a decision against Demond Nicholson in January.
