Benavides Appeals to Al-Ash Sheikh

"Interim" WBC champion in the super middleweight division (up to 76.2 kg) David Benavides (28-0, 24 KOs) has reached out to the organizer of boxing tournaments and sporting events in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al-Ash Sheikh, with a proposal to organize a bout against the absolute champion of his division, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs). David offers an intriguing condition in case of victory or defeat.

"Turki Al-Ash Sheikh, let's stage the biggest and most thrilling fight in Saudi Arabia. It will be the greatest Mexican vs. Mexican-American fight in boxing history, and is there a better place for it than the Kingdom?

This is a battle for pride and glory. I fight for greatness, not for money. Your Excellency, if I don't defeat Canelo, I will donate my entire purse to any children's charity of your choice. If I defeat Canelo, I will donate a substantial portion of this purse to children worldwide. I am the people's champion and will continue to fight the best! I keep my word," wrote Benavides on Instagram.

Earlier, Canelo revealed the purse he would accept to fight David.

Benavides's next bout is scheduled for the summer against Alexander Gvozdyk for the "interim" WBC champion title in the light heavyweight division (up to 79.4 kg). Canelo will fight on May 4th against Jaime Munguia.
