Two-time undisputed world boxing champion Terence Crawford confirmed former UFC champion Conor McGregor’s statement that negotiations between them did take place. Earlier, the Irishman mentioned that they proposed a two-fight deal to one of the pound-for-pound best boxers in the world: one under MMA rules and the other under boxing rules.
“They offered me the fight, and Conor and I talked on the phone. I just told him: ‘I’m not getting into any f****** octagon with you so you can hit me with kicks and elbows.’
He just laughed and said, ‘Man, I respect that. But we’d make a f****** ton of money.’
But sometimes it’s not about the money. I can make money, but you’re not going to be hitting me, dude,” Crawford explained.
Crawford is expected to have a unification fight against Sebastian Fundora soon. The two boxers have only a few days left to finalize the bout agreement.
