Zhilei Signals Potential Rematch with Parker, Eyes China as Venue

Chinese heavyweight Zhang Zhilei (26-2-1, 21 KOs) suggests that the rematch against WBO "interim" champion Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) should not be expected before the end of 2024.

"Before the fight, we included a clause about the rematch. As the 'interim' champion of the World Boxing Organization in the heavyweight division, I was guaranteed a rematch in case of my defeat. Had I won, there would be no rematch. The rematch will take place at the end of this year. We are working diligently to organize this fight in China. There are certain difficulties in the organization process, but we are working hard. If a top title fight takes place in China, it will serve as a source of inspiration for Chinese boxers and boxing fans," said Zhilei. Zhilei and Parker first met on March 8 in Saudi Arabia. Joseph won by a majority decision. After that, it was announced that the boxers could have a rematch. However, Parker was later mentioned among the possible opponents for Anthony Joshua for a summer fight.
