Zhang Zhilei: “This Will Be the Worst Scenario for Joshua”

Chinese boxer Zhang Zhilei (27-2-1, 22 KOs) commented on Anthony Joshua's (28-4, 25 KOs) defeat against IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) and warned AJ about the potential rematch.

I can’t say I’m disappointed because, as a boxing fan, I look at it from a fan's perspective. Joshua has been at the top of the pyramid for many years, and when you’re at the top of the food chain, it definitely changes your mindset a bit.

I don’t know how this loss will affect him psychologically, but I think that a rematch will be the worst scenario for Joshua. I don’t think he will dare to fight me anytime soon. We’ll see how it plays out, but I strongly advise him not to take this rematch.

I’ve been saying for years that I want to test his chin, but Dubois did that for me. However, seeing the result, I no longer want to do that. Now he will do everything possible to avoid me,” said Zhang.

On September 21, Daniel Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua, with knockdowns occurring in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds. After the last knockdown, Joshua was unable to rise before the count ended.

In June, Zhang Zhilei stopped Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) by technical knockout in the 5th round.
