Zepeda Could Face Berinchyk in Next Fight

Promoter of Mexican lightweight boxer (up to 61.2 kg) William Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs), Oscar De La Hoya, says that his fighter's next opponent could be WBO champion Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs).

"I think we will go the WBO route, Berinchyk. It's not the easiest fight for Zepeda, but it's the simplest title bout for the organization.

This will be a great fight that fans will love. It will elevate William to a new level. And then we will move on to unifications – Shakur Stevenson and all the other guys," said De La Hoya. Currently, Zepeda holds a unique achievement – he is the number one contender in the rankings of all four major organizations. He is also the mandatory challenger for the IBF title held by Lomachenko.

However, Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis are negotiating a unification bout, and Denys Berinchyk does not have an opponent lined up yet. On the night of July 7th, Zepeda defeated Giovanni Cabrera by knockout in the 3rd round. We provided detailed information on the most interesting aspects of the fight and how it unfolded.
