Ukrainian EBU European heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Zakhozhyi (18-0, 14 KOs) commented on his victory over German fighter Granit Shala (15-0, 5 KOs). "This victory is a big step in my sports career. It opens up new opportunities and prospects, boosts my confidence and recognition in the boxing world. Thanks to this win, I can compete with stronger opponents and continue my journey towards a world championship title.
First and foremost, the plan was to get into the ring and enjoy myself. We had a strong preparation for this fight from all sides. We understood that if the fight went the distance, the decision might not go my way, so I was determined to knock him out.
Certainly, the words I spoke after the fight came from the heart. Our military, who are currently defending our state, are the true heroes of our time. They sacrifice their lives so that we can live in peace and security. Their example gives me strength and motivation to raise the Ukrainian flag on all international stages. I want my victory to bring them some hope and support during these difficult times," said Zakhozhyi.
On April 13th, Oleksandr Zakhozhyi knocked out Granit Shala in the second round.
