Zahozhyi Offered Fight with Shala

Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Oleksandr Zahozhyi (18-0, 14 KOs) could become a contender for the vacant EBU title. The European Boxing Union has offered Zahozhyi a bout against Granit Shala (15-0, 5 KOs) after Joe Joyce (15-2, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) declined the fight.

The parties have until March 13 to submit their applications.

Shala has a bout scheduled for April 13 in Berlin, making this fight a potential headline event. Oleksandr Zahozhyi last fought in March of the previous year against 43-year-old Muhammed Ali Durmaz (33-36, 30 KOs), securing a knockout victory. Granit Shala claimed a technical knockout victory against Jorge Alejandro Arias (13-5-2, 6 KOs) in November.

Previously, Joe Joyce had declined the title fight against Shala.
