Adrien Broner, the ex-champ with an American swagger, threw a verbal jab at Devin Haney's old man, Bill Haney, daring him to pen a deal for a clash with his son:
"Bill Haney, you are itching for your boy to catch a whooping? Then, slide that contract my way. I don't duck and dodge in the ring. What makes you think I'd start with your kid? The guy couldn't punch his way out of a soggy paper sack. Cut the crap. I'm here for the whole nine yards, itching for that mayhem. Point me to where I ink that contract," Broner spouted off on his Instagram.
Haney, the ring maestro, outmaneuvered Vasyl Lomachenko in 2023, then bulked up to featherweight (63.5 kg), snatching the WBC crown after schooling champ Regis Prograis. Meanwhile, Broner clocked in once last year, sticking to his guns, notching a W by judges' nod against Bill Hutchinson.
