Wilder's trainer: Andy Ruiz poses no threat to the disciplined Deontay

Malik Scott, the head trainer of ex-WBC super heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, is confident of his protégé's victory over former champion Andy Ruiz.

“Andy Ruiz poses no threat to a disciplined Deontay Wilder. I've been going over my notes and studying video and I see that Ruiz has trouble with disciplined fighters. The only hope Ruiz has is if you give him a chance. But if you stick to the plan, it's easy to turn it off. He's a good fighter, but we all have our weaknesses. Andy's disadvantage is that he can't beat disciplined fighters."

“Does that mean Andy is a bad fighter? Absolutely not, but Deontay has a plan. For Ruiz, everything can end with a painful, terrible knockout."

We will remind, the match between two ex-world champions - Andy Ruiz and Deontay Wilder - will take place in the spring of 2023.

Last November, the WBC sanctioned a fight between Ruiz and Wilder. The winner of the fight will thus become the next mandatory challenger for the WBC heavyweight title held by Tyson Fury.

In his last fight, Ruiz defeated Luis Ortiz by unanimous decision. At the same time, Andy knocked down his opponent three times. After the fight, Ruiz challenged Deontay Wilder to a face-to-face fight.

Wilder defeated Finn Robert Helenius by knockout in the first round in October. After the fight, Deontay offered to fight WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk.
