Former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder wants his next fight with another former belt holder, Anthony Joshua.
“We have a WBC final eliminator with Andy Ruiz, but we want a fight with Joshua... Deontay wants that fight next. Let's make a deal and make him," said Wilder's manager Shelley Finkel.
The WBC previously sanctioned a fight between Andy Ruiz and Deontay Wilder. The winner of the fight will become the next mandatory challenger for the WBC heavyweight title held by Tyson Fury.
Promoter Eddie Hearn said he wants to organize a fight between Wilder and Anthony Joshua in 2023. Hearn expects the duel to be held in the summer.
Wilder defeated Finn Robert Helenius by knockout in the first round in October. After the fight, Deontay offered to fight WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk.
