Malik Scott, trainer of former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs), has shared his thoughts on a possible showdown between his fighter and former champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
"I was very surprised to see Joshua go after Dubois so aggressively, especially since I feel Anthony rarely bets on his right uppercut. I’ve seen him focus more on hooks and similar punches in the past. That really caught me off guard.
I believe that such excessive zeal in a fight against Deontay could be costly, as that's his specialty. And it’s my specialty as his trainer. I love when opponents get too carried away, and my fighter makes them pay for it.
So I’m betting on a Deontay knockout victory, though the fight would undoubtedly be intriguing. As a fan, I’d gladly pay to watch it," Scott commented.
In September, Anthony Joshua suffered a fifth-round knockout loss to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs).
Deontay Wilder was stopped by Zhilei Zhang (27-2-1, 22 KOs) in June via fifth-round TKO, marking Wilder’s fourth loss in his last five fights.
