Former world heavyweight champion American Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) announced his weight on the eve of the fight with Robert Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs).
“Approximately 220 pounds (99.79 kg). Weight is not something we will worry about in this fight or in future fights. We put on a lot of weight for the last fight and everyone was wondering how I would handle it.
I was also interested to see how I would box with such a weight. Now I decided to go back to what I'm used to and what I feel comfortable walking with. 220 pounds or so is my ideal weight.”
The Wilder-Helenius fight will take place on October 15 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
