Former world heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) has shared that he still has big ambitions in boxing and hopes to become the undisputed world champion.
"As long as I'm here, there are still titles to reclaim, to live that moment again. I think every fighter wants to become a champion and hold the title; otherwise, I don't think we would be doing this. But there are some fighters who are only interested in money. If you're here just for the money, you won't stay long. Because money comes and goes, it's temporary, it doesn't bring happiness and peace.
Therefore, my goal is to reclaim the titles. I still want to be the undisputed champion. Life is beautiful, and all I want is for my children to live in abundance, to have everything much better than I can imagine. I'm very proud that I can provide for all seven of my children. It's great, but I still have a mission while I'm here. It's not just about the money, it's about getting the titles back. After that, I can peacefully retire from the sport," Wilder said.
On June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Deontay Wilder will face Zhang Zhilei (26-2-1, 21 KOs) as part of the 5 vs 5 tournament between promotional companies Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions.
