Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) explained why he lost to Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) in December 2023.
"I could say a lot, but I don’t want to make excuses because even when you tell the truth, people say it’s an excuse. One of the things that went wrong was inactivity.
I hadn’t boxed for 2 years, and I didn’t even realize I had been inactive for so long due to certain things I was doing. I just couldn’t pull the trigger when it was time," Wilder told Fight Hub TV.
Wilder faced Parker in December 2023 in Saudi Arabia, losing by unanimous decision. Deontay's next fight will be on June 1 against Zhang Zhilei, also in Saudi Arabia.
