British heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) has been given the green light to continue his career after it was confirmed that his positive doping test was caused by a contaminated food supplement.
As reported by Sky Sports, the Texas Commission has cleared Whyte – the investigation concluded that the prohibited substance entered his body unintentionally. The boxer used a food supplement containing a banned substance not listed among the ingredients by the manufacturer.
Dillian explained his silence: "It was very hard because I knew I was innocent, but you can't talk, you can't say anything. You have to be professional, trust the process, trust the lawyers, and trust the people around you. It was hard, but hard times create strong people. First and foremost, I feel relieved, but of course, I'm also angry because it cost me so much. Most importantly, it cost me the chance to beat Anthony Joshua. Everything else after that is secondary, but you know, it's emotional. I'm angry, and I'm also disappointed because people in this game don't give you a chance to prove yourself. Everyone is quick to say, 'Yes, yes, yes,' instead of giving people a chance," said Whyte.
In August last year, Whyte was scheduled for a rematch against Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs), but the fight was canceled due to a positive doping test.
Dillian Whyte last entered the ring in November 2022 against Jermaine Franklin Jr. (22-2, 14 KOs) and won by split decision.
