Buddy McGirt, the trainer of British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte (30-3, 20 KOs), firmly believes his fighter can claim a world title.
"I genuinely think he can be a champion. If I didn't believe in him, I wouldn't be wasting our time together. It's hard to judge anything based on his last fight. I wouldn’t even judge Dillian on that match because Christian Hammer came out like a madman, gambled everything, and lost. I told Dillian, 'Watch, he’ll fold. He’s going to throw everything he has, and if it doesn’t work, he’ll quit.' And that’s exactly what happened," said McGirt.
On March 17th, Dillian Whyte triumphantly returned to the ring against Christian Hammer (27-11, 17 KOs). After three rounds, Hammer declined to continue the fight, resulting in a retirement in the third round (RTD 3).
