Why Does Crawford Need Tszyu? Jeff Mayweather Explains

American coach Jeff Mayweather discussed why former two-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) needs a fight against WBO super welterweight champion Tim Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs), and also offered a prediction for the match.

"I'm leaning towards Crawford. But I won't say it's going to be easy for him. With Crawford, it's different. He's a completely different beast. This fight will finally make it clear whether Tszyu can offer something at the top level. For Crawford, this is just another fight for his greatness, his legacy, his resume. That's the only reason he needs Tszyu.

One of the reasons to fight Tszyu is that Terence has never been able to get a fight with Canelo. He tried very hard, but it still didn't happen. And if it didn't happen, then you grab what's left," said Mayweather.

On March 30, Tszyu will face Sebastian Fundora in Las Vegas for the WBC and WBO titles. The winner will be obliged to meet Terence Crawford, who has utilized his status as the WBO super champion.
