British heavyweight (over 90.7 kg) Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) reacted to the International Boxing Federation's (IBF) decision to elevate Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) to full champion status.
Anthony also discussed whether it matters to him to enter the ring after Daniel, as traditionally, the challenger enters first and waits for the champion in the ring.
"My management team put in a lot of effort to organize the fight with Dubois, and for me, it's like the cherry on top. The title is a big bonus. The IBF did what they did. They want to fulfill their mandatory requirements, and Usyk has a rematch with Fury, so Daniel is now the IBF champion, and I'm just coming in as the challenger. I'm not fighting for a vacant title; I'm fighting as a challenger. Entering the ring first? I knew this would happen at some stage. When I fought Dillian Whyte, I said he could enter second. The main thing is who comes out last, right? For me, it doesn't matter who enters the ring first," Joshua said in the 5 Live Boxing podcast.
The fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will take place on September 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. The winner of the fight will likely contend for the triumphant titleholder of the rematch between Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
