The World Boxing Council (WBC) has granted David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) an additional two weeks to decide in which division the American boxer will continue his career.
Now, after his victory over Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-2, 16 KOs), Benavidez holds the "interim" championship titles in two weight classes: super middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) and light heavyweight (up to 79.4 kg).
David is leaning towards continuing his career in the super middleweight division and aiming for a fight against the division's undisputed champion, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs). However, the future remains uncertain as Canelo is likely to have his next bout against WBA mandatory challenger Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs).
