WBO Orders Usyk to Face Winner of Parker vs Wardley

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has officially ruled on the next steps for undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

WBO Heavyweight Resolution:

– Usyk has been granted a 90-day medical extension.

– Interim champion Joseph Parker is permitted to make a defense of his interim title.

– Usyk must face the winner of the Parker vs Fabio Wardley fight in his next bout.

Usyk’s Team Petition:

– Usyk’s team submitted certified medical documents confirming his inability to train immediately after consecutive high-level fights and training camps.

– The WBO Committee verified the evidence with additional documentation.

– A formal request for a 90-day negotiation extension was filed and deemed valid under regulations.

– No counter-evidence was presented.

The Committee recognizes the submitted medical documents as accurate and authentic,” the WBO statement read.

The Parker–Wardley interim heavyweight clash was officially announced earlier, with Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) set to face Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs). Parker is Usyk’s mandatory challenger.

In July, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) stopped Daniel Dubois in the 5th round of their rematch to reclaim his undisputed heavyweight crown.
