WBO Demands Medical Examination for Alimkhanuly

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has decided that middleweight world champion (up to 72.5 kg) Janibek Alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KOs) must undergo a medical examination and provide a detailed health report.

Alimkhanuly will now need to submit the results of this examination, a prognosis, and an updated report on when he will be cleared to fight again.

Janibek's manager and Head of Partnerships at Ready To Fight, Egis Klimas, commented on the situation involving his client:

"At this level, it's a whole different game. There will be no issues. Janibek is not the first fighter to lose consciousness; we will reschedule the fight. I feel sorry for Mikhaylovich, who traveled all the way from New Zealand to the USA for this fight," Klimas said.

On July 13, Janibek was scheduled to defend his titles against Andrey Mikhaylovich (21-0, 13 KOs). However, the fight was canceled after Alimkhanuly lost consciousness while cutting weight and was hospitalized due to dehydration. The Kazakh fighter later commented on his condition.
