WBC Ukraine President: "More Judges - A Plus for Usyk"

In an interview with vRINGe, the president of WBC Ukraine, Nikolai Kovalchuk, shared his thoughts on the initiative of WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman to increase the number of judges in the fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) between WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and the holder of the WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).

"I believe that the passion in this fight will be simply insane. It should be taken into account that there won't be two Mike Tysons in the ring, meaning it's unlikely someone will knock out someone in the starting rounds. More precisely, it's most likely not going to happen. These are two technical boxers. Two cunning boxers. Both move brilliantly. We assume that this fight could very well go all 12 rounds.

Considering that Fury is an extraordinary, hyped personality, as a Ukrainian, I would like there to be more judges. I'm speaking now as a Ukrainian, as a fan of Usyk, not as a representative of the WBC. Additional judges for Oleksandr are a plus. More judges are a plus specifically for Usyk. Because personally, I believe that Oleksandr is technically two heads above Fury. This is my subjective opinion," said Kovalchuk.

The fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will take place on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This match will determine the first absolute champion of the division since 1999.
