The World Boxing Council (WBC) has officially sanctioned a fight between WBC lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) and William Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs).
WBC President and Ready To Fight advisor Mauricio Sulaiman announced the news.
"WBC has ordered the mandatory title defense of our lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson against William Zepeda. I am eagerly anticipating this wonderful fight," said Sulaiman.
On July 6, Shakur Stevenson won a unanimous decision against Artem Harutyunyan (12-2, 7 KOs). On the same day, William Zepeda knocked out Giovanni Cabrera (22-2, 7 KOs) in the 3rd round.
