Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), has shared his views on the match between Vasyl Lomachenko and Devin Haney. He declared the fight balanced and affirmed the American boxer's victory as rightful.
Sulaiman acknowledged that results often provoke debates after each closely contested fight.
"Before discussing the rematch, I would like to talk about the controversy surrounding the result. After every big and close fight, there will be controversy. Lomachenko won the hearts of the people; he was a fan favorite. It was a very close fight. It could have gone in favor of either fighter or ended in a draw. So, there are no contradictions; there was no robbery, no arbitrariness."
"It was an amazing fight. I'm very proud of both fighters. I'm especially proud that Haynie reached this level. I'm also very proud that Lomachenko fought under such grueling circumstances. So, everyone would like to see a rematch," Sulaiman said in an interview on the talkSPORT Boxing YouTube channel.
