The World Boxing Council (WBC) has officially sanctioned a rematch between Badou Jack (29-3-3, 17 KOs), the current WBC cruiserweight champion (limit 200 lbs), and Noel Mikaelian (27-3, 12 KOs).
The decision comes after the WBC upheld an appeal filed by Don King Productions. The two camps now have until July 1, 2025, to come to an agreement. If no deal is reached by then, a purse bid will be ordered.
Jack and Mikaelian first met on May 3, with the Swedish veteran winning by majority decision: 115-113, 114-114, and 115-113.
Notably, Mikaelian stepped in on short notice after Ryan Rozicki withdrew from the fight due to injury.
